US to increase troop deployment in Asia to counter China, backed by India

Washington, Ta. 26 June 2020, Friday

The US is going to deploy its troops in Asia by withdrawing its troops from Europe as part of an important strategy and military decision to stop China's growing grandeur in Asia. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that in view of the growing threat posed by China to India and Southeast Asian countries, the United States was going to reduce its troop deployments from Europe and deploy them in appropriate locations.

Asked why the US was withdrawing its troops from Germany, Mike Pompeo said the US troops were not in Germany because they were being sent elsewhere.

China became a threat to Asian countries

According to Pompeo, the actions of the ruling Communist Party of China show that it is a challenge to India. He further added that China is a threat to Vietnam and China is a challenge in Malaysia, Indonesia and the South China Sea. Because of this they want to ensure that the US military is properly deployed to meet these challenges.

U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean

In addition to the Indian Ocean in Asia, the U.S. has military bases in Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. The US remarks came after a violent clash between China and India in the Galvan Valley. Pompeo last week criticized the Chinese military for escalating tensions with India and militarizing the South China Sea, and also called the Chinese Communist Party irresponsible.

"The PLA has escalated the border dispute with India, the world's largest democracy," Pompeo said. It is militarizing the South China Sea, illegally occupying it and damaging important sea lanes.

So that we can face PLA.

While attending the Brussels Forum 2020 virtually, Pompeo said he was going to ensure the deployment in a way that would counter the PLA. This is a problem of our time and we will try our best to have all the resources available to deal with it. At the behest of President Donald Trump, the United States is reviewing troop deployments and reducing its troop numbers in Germany from about 52,000 to 25,000.
