The country's Supreme Court has refused to intervene in the petition seeking removal of the word "India" from the constitution. According to the court, the petition can be considered as a representation to the government and a memorandum can be given to the Center. According to Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde, the name of India has already been mentioned in the constitution so they cannot go ahead with the issue.

The word India should be removed by amending Article 1 of the Constitution as argued by the petitioner. Article 1 states that India will be a union of states. Instead, there is a demand to remove the word India through research and replace it with India or Hindustan. The country should be recognized by its original or honest name only India.

According to the petitioner, the word India is a sign of slavery and that is why the word Bharat or Hindustan should be used instead. The removal of the English name may be symbolic but it will be a source of pride for our nationality and especially for future generations.

Trip from India to India

Maharaj Bharat made the whole of India and the country was named after him. The Turks and Iranians came here in the Middle Ages by entering through the Indus Valley. They used to pronounce 's' as 'h' so that the corruption of Indus became Hindu. Thus the country of Hindus got the name Hindustan.

Then when the British came, they named this country India from the Indus Valley because the pronunciation of India or Hindustan was inconvenient for them. Since then, India has become India. It is written in the first article of the constitution that India means India.
