Reaction to action, China also imposed a ban on US visas

Beijing, Ta. Monday 29 June 2020

In response to the US response to the Hong Kong issue, China has also decided to ban visas for people coming from the US. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday that China has decided to impose a visa ban on US workers.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said the decision was taken after the US misbehaved on the Hong Kong issue. Earlier, the US had decided to ban visas for Chinese people.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo banned a Chinese official from applying for a visa. Chinese government officials who threatened Hong Kong's independence will no longer be allowed entry into the United States. This includes former officers in addition to the officers currently in office.

In Hong Kong, people's freedom has been put at risk by passing various bills at the behest of the Chinese government. The United States has consistently opposed China's move.

The China-inspired Hong Kong Congress passed a bill that would make anyone who opposes China in Hong Kong a terrorist. The United States has since taken action against officials responsible for the bill and the current situation in Hong Kong.

"I am taking action against all Chinese government officials who are responsible for the current situation in Hong Kong," said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Announcing the visa ban, Pompeo said visas have been banned for all officials who are currently working and have previously worked on the Hong Kong issue. President Donald Trump announced that action would be taken against government officials of the Chinese Communist Party. These steps have been taken as part of it.

Earlier in the day, the United States announced a ban on officials who discriminated against minority Uighur Muslims. This new announcement will escalate the Sino-US conflict.

China reacted harshly

China has reacted strongly to the US decision. China on Saturday strongly opposed the US decision to impose a visa ban on Chinese officials over the issue of Hong Kong. At the same time, China said it would take strong measures to maintain national security.
