When the temples were opened for the devotees in Kerala after 9 days, there was a quarrel between the Union and state ministers over the decision to open the temples. External Affairs Minister Muralitharan alleged that the state government had taken the decision to open the temples in a hurry. In his reply, the state government minister said that the decision to open the temple was taken as per the guidelines of the central government.

It may be mentioned that the central government has given permission to open temples, malls and restaurants from Monday during Unlock-1. Muralidhar, a senior BJP leader in Kerala, wrote on Facebook that the Kerala government had failed to maintain social distance in the state.

He further wrote that while the cases of Corona are increasing in the state, you want to defame it by opening temples? We urge the state government to reverse its decision to reopen the temples.

A Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra said on Twitter on Monday that both the devotees and the trustees of the temple are not currently in favor of opening the temples. Then why is the state government in a hurry to open the temple.

In his reply, Muralitharan said the state government had not taken the decision to open the temples in a hurry. The Union Minister should ask this question to his cabinet friends.
