People's anger over the Chinese military's treatment of Indian troops in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh has also had an impact on sales of Chinese mobile phones, with Chinese phone sales in Lucknow falling by 20 per cent in the last five days.

Oppo, a show room of Chinese phone Oppo in Patrakarpuram, Lucknow, which has not sold a single phone in the last five days, has seen a growing crisis as mobile traders have stopped ordering Chinese mobiles.

With Lucknow accounting for 70 per cent of the phone market, traders are now focusing on increasing trade from the US, South Korea, Taiwan, and Finland.

Mobile operators and consumer anger have been growing in opposition to Chinese production since the June 15 incident in Galvan Valley.

Sulabh, a major mobile phone dealer in Lucknow, said that now all the customers who come to buy mobiles are asking for the exact location of the phone, with more than 50 per cent people changing their minds after hearing the Chinese name.

Some consumers buy it as they have no choice, said Niraj Jauhar, president of the Lucknow Mobile Association, adding that even shopkeepers no longer want to sell Chinese mobiles.

About 70 per cent of the mobile companies in the market are still from China, but companies from the US, Taiwan and South Korea are being negotiated for their alternatives.
