Jessica Lal murder case: Delhi LG approves Manu Sharma's premature release

The lieutenant governor of Delhi on Tuesday approved the release of Manu Sharma, convicted in the Jessica Lal murder case, from jail. Manu Sharma, who is serving a life sentence, is currently out of jail on parole.

Manu Sharma, son of former Haryana minister Vinod Sharma, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Delhi High Court in December 2006 for the 1999 murder of Jessica Lal.

The Delhi Sentence Review Board (SRB) under the Delhi government last month recommended the early release of Manu Sharma. The recommendation was made at a meeting of the SRB chaired by Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain on May 11, sources said.

This recommendation has now been approved by LG. LG has also ordered the release of 17 more people, including Manu Sharma.

The Delhi Sentence Review Board (SRB) has sent a recommendation to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for the early release of Manu Sharma, who is serving a life sentence in the Jelica Lal murder case. .

In fact the sentence review board which deems it appropriate to release 14 parameters. Manu Sharma meets all those 14 criteria. Apart from this, Manu Sharma has spent time in the semi-open jail and is now in the open jail. Positive reports were also given about his behavior in the jail on behalf of the jail and welfare officer.
