New Delhi, June 25, 2020, Thursday

Corona virus is causing havoc not only in India but all over the world. The disease caused by corona virus is called covid-19. The rising number of infections and deaths from this covid is a cause for concern. In the lockdown, people were forced to stop work and stay at home to prevent the transmission of corona. Even today, when the fear of corona continues to rise among the people during the unlocked period, it is surprising that more deaths have been reported from TB than from corona during the 3 months of the corona epidemic. Corona virus infection has killed 15,000 people while TB has claimed 20,000 lives.

Thus TB has proven to be more deadly than Corona. If we look at the statistics, there were 24 lakh cases of tuberculosis (TB) in India in the year 2019, out of which 79000 people died. According to the World Health Organization, an average of 20,000 people die of TB in India every 3 months. Not only is TB treatment and medicine available, but TB hospitals are still operating, but there are still so many deaths from TB. Surprisingly, TB cases are increasing instead of decreasing. According to one source, there has been an 11 per cent increase in TB cases compared to 2018. TB eradication program is run Surprisingly, TB is a 100 percent curable disease, but the increase in numbers is surprising.

A report on TB released by the World Health Organization last Wednesday states that data on TB patients who remain anonymous cannot be collected, so the number of TB patients may be higher. TB is still the deadliest disease in the world. The number of TB patients is increasing due to TB treatment services. As many as 81 percent of TB patients receive treatment after diagnosis. The highest number of TB patients in India is 20 per cent in Uttar Pradesh, 9 per cent in Maharashtra, 8 per cent in Madhya Pradesh, 7 per cent in Rajasthan and 7 per cent in Bihar. India is committed to eradicating TB from the country by 2025 and the TB program has been renamed the National Tuberculosis Control Program to the National Tuberculosis Prevention Program. .
