Islamabad, Ta. 13 June 2020, Saturday

The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan is on the rise and the condition of almost all the hospitals is deplorable. The country's Imran Khan government does not have enough money to treat patients, forcing health workers to seek treatment without a PPE kit. Under these circumstances, the government has allocated Rs 1.29 trillion, or about Rs 1,28,900 crore, for the defense budget.

The government of Pakistan has presented a budget for the year 2020-21 which proposes to allocate Rs 1.29 trillion for defense. Industry and Production Minister Hamad Azhar presented the budget for the financial year 2020-21 in the National Assembly. At the time, he also said he was grateful to Pakistan's armed forces.

Amid the ongoing financial crisis in the country during the Covid 1-9 epidemic, the government has released a budget of Rs 7.13 trillion (Rs 7,13,700 crore) and no new taxes have been imposed. It is to be noted here that in the current financial year 2019-20 which will end on June 30, the defense budget was kept the same as the previous financial year.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) -led government has announced a budget for the new financial year. It is the second budget proposed by PTI. The PTI-led government announced its first budget in June 2019 and decided to adhere to the price of various items and taxes in Pakistan.
