The army said the temperature at the site of the collision remained zero or below even in the scorching heat. Violent clashes with temperatures below zero on Tuesday left 20 soldiers dead.

Temperatures in the Galvan Valley reach -20 degrees Celsius in December and January. They are stationed at the site to protect the border from the cold. At that time he also has to face blizzards and avalanches. Indian Army personnel stationed in the most dangerous places in the world are given specially designed kits so that they can survive even in the deadliest season.

The kits provided to the troopers include thermal insoles, glasses, sleeping kits, shovels, boots, avalanche detectors and mountaineering equipment. The difference in temperature between the Galvan Valley and the urban area of ​​Ladakh is found in the abyss. While the mercury in Galwan is below zero, the temperature in urban areas of Ladakh is around 12 degrees.

Forty Chinese soldiers were injured in the violent clashes

For the first time since 1967, there has been such a big clash between the armies of the two countries. At that time, 80 Indian soldiers were martyred and more than 300 Chinese soldiers were killed. At a time when the government's focus is on the Covid-19 crisis, both sides in the region have suffered.

In the evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to review the situation in eastern Ladakh. India has decided to continue its aggressive stance on the 3,500 km long border to counter China's aggression.
