China frees 10 soldiers, including 2 majors, three days after violent clashes in Galvan Valley

The Chinese army had taken 10 Indian soldiers hostage in a bloody clash in the Galwan valley on the Ladakh border. According to a report, the Chinese army took hostage 10 Indian Army personnel, including two majors, who were released after three days of negotiations. However, no official statement has been issued by the army so far.

The army said in a statement on Thursday that no Indian soldiers were missing in the operation. But according to the news agency, the Chinese army captured 10 soldiers, including two majors, who were released three days later.

Earlier, in July 1962, Indian troops were captured by the Chinese army. About 30 Indian soldiers were killed during the war in the Galvan Valley at that time and several dozen were captured by the Chinese army who were later released.

76 jawans injured in clash at Galwan valley

According to military sources, 76 Indian Army personnel were injured in the attack by the Chinese army on Monday, out of which 18 were seriously injured while 58 suffered minor injuries. At present, 18 personnel are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Leh while the remaining 58 have been admitted to various hospitals.

For the third day in a row, Indian and Chinese military officials held major-level talks on Thursday to normalize the situation around the Galvan Valley in addition to the bloody clashes between the troops. It is to be mentioned that the armies of both the countries have been facing each other since last 5th May. On May 5, the two countries' armies clashed at Pangong Tso.

The Indian Army then decided to take steps to repel Chinese troops from all disputed sites in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, Demchok and Daulat Bagh Oldi. There were several rounds of talks between the two countries which failed. On the night of June 15, an Indian contingent was on its way to Galvan Valley Patrol Point-14 for a discussion with Chinese troops when ambushed Chinese troops attacked the Indian contingent. Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in the clashes, and China suffered heavy casualties.
