Arrival of monsoon in Maharashtra and Goa, red alert due to heavy rains

After a long wait, the southwest monsoon arrived in Goa and Maharashtra on Thursday and is expected to move very fast in the next two days. The meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in parts of southern and coastal Maharashtra for the next 48 hours. Deputy DG of Mumbai Center of Meteorological Department S. "The southwest monsoon has reached Maharashtra," Hoslikar said. It passes through Harnai (coastal Ratnagiri district), Ramagundam (Telangana) and Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh).

The meteorological department has forecast rains for the next 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal and parts of northeastern India. He also said that heavy rains in Mumbai till June 14 could be a problem for the people.

Red alert in Goa

In the midst of all this, it rained in the coastal state of Goa on Thursday. A senior meteorological official at Panaji had issued a red alert for rains in Goa on June 12-13. Goa has been receiving rains since Wednesday and Madgaon has received maximum rainfall of seven cm. The meteorological department has instructed fishermen not to venture into the sea.

Monsoon arrives in Odisha

The southwest monsoon officially reached Odisha on Thursday causing rains in several parts of the state. So far the monsoon has spread to several southern districts of the state.

Rainfall forecast in Central India, Telangana

Rains have been recorded in Ganjam, Koraput, Gajapati, Raigad, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Balasore districts of Odisha. The meteorological department has also forecast a normal monsoon in central India. The southwest monsoon is moving towards most parts of Telangana and heavy rains are expected in most parts of the state for the next three days.
