US company allowed to demolish Titanic wreckage and extract telegraph machine from it

New York, Saturday, May 23, 2020

The Titanic has been wrecked for over a century at a depth of more than 3,000 feet in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship sank at midnight on April 15, 1918. Now a district court in the US state of Virginia has allowed the wreckage to be removed and the telegraph, known as Marco's Radio, to be removed. The issue has been in dispute in court for years. As the wreckage of the Titanic is not only a wreck, it is also the final memorial to the one and a half thousand people who died in the accident. That is why the families of the dead, historians, archaeologists, etc. were opposed to tampering with the wreckage of this ship. So to this day the wreckage of the ship was not tampered with.

The Titanic, which crossed the Atlantic from Southampton, Britain, to New York, sank at midnight on April 18-19, 1918. It was the ship's first voyage. In the 19th century, with the help of the National Geographic Society, marine explorer Robert Ballard explored the wreckage of the ship. At that time, the world knew for the first time where the ship was and what it was like after it broke down in 1914. The ship was torn in two and scattered a little farther apart in the sea. The ship sank at a depth of about 4,000 feet in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. It is not possible to go there without special kind of marine equipment.

The application was filed in the court by the American company 'RMST Inc.' The company has been organizing exhibitions and sales for years, removing debris from the Titanic. But the main part (hull) of the ship has not been tampered with yet. The reason is that the spirit of the family of the deceased is connected with the ship. The family did not want the ark to be tampered with.

The Titanic, on the other hand, is just as popular today, eleven decades later. So the company is keen to get out the Marconi telegraph kept in its radio room. Now that the court has granted the waiver, if there is no obstruction, robotic materials will be sent in the coming months to dismantle the wreckage of the Tainik. Even if a human can go to that depth in the ocean, it will not last long, so the operation will be done only by a robotic machine.

The company says that if the radio telegraph is found, it can be recovered. If he recovers, then what was the last message? The Titanic sank from April 15 to 19. But during the 9 hours from midnight to midnight on the 13th, he kept on sending messages of help. The message reached a steamer named Carpathia, a short distance away, and the steamer came to help. But she was able to arrive the next day. In the meantime, there will be some messages sent for help that have not been decoded or reached the receiver. It has been decided to explore this machine to find out.
