Trump has taken a stand against Twitter-Facebook, such a change in the law

Washington, May 29, 2020, Friday

Social media companies Twitter and Facebook have been slammed by US President Donald Trump.

Trump has signed an order to end legal protections for social media platforms. Now the regulator will have the right to take legal action on the content of sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

While signing the order, Trump also said that social media has a monopoly power, which is not fair. Trump has long criticized sites like Twitter and Facebook. Trump and many of his Republican Party leaders feel that social media Sites have been suppressing the voice of the Conservative group.

On Tuesday, Trump was incensed by a link to a fact check with two of Trump's tweets. The tweet was about mail in ballots. The company had put a warning label under Trump's post.

Trump has since signed a bill authorizing action against these companies. Trump also tweeted on Wednesday that Twitter was trying to silence the Conservative group, but that he would not allow such a thing to happen.

Trump is also going to bring a new law in Parliament that will change US policy for companies that run social media.

Republican leader Marco Rubio, who is campaigning against social media, says that when social media sites label a post with a fact check, it becomes a publisher's role instead of a forum. The same laws should apply that apply to a publisher.

However, Twitter has called Trump's order the politicization of a great law allowing social media. Changing the law protecting American innovation and freedom of expression would hurt America's global leadership.

Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has also criticized Trump's decision, saying that Trump's decision is not the right one.

As long as social media companies edit users' posts, they will not get legal protection as ordered by Trump.

However, experts believe that this is the first step in the direction of the regulation. The change made by Trump will be reviewed. New rules will be prepared and voted on. This amendment will also have to be defended in court.
