Pakistan can't stand long lockdown, will have to live with Corona: Imran Khan

Islamabad, Ta. Saturday 16 May 2020

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said that more than 150 million Pakistanis have been affected by the lockdown imposed by the Corona virus. He also urged the governments of Pakistan's provinces to allow the resumption of public transport. Imran Khan has once again said that Pakistan cannot face an indefinite lockdown.

Informing about the steps taken to get rid of the Corona virus epidemic, Imran Khan said that Pakistan would not be able to implement lockdown like the US, Europe and China. He said the lockdown has already badly affected the economic situation in the country. Especially the weaker section, which included 25 million people who lived on daily or weekly wages.

About 150 million people are financially distressed by the Corona virus and lockdown. The total population of Pakistan is about 220 million. At the same time, Imran Khan called for resumption of public transport as it was closed for a long time and poor people were dying.

"The virus will stay with us until a vaccine is found, but we can get rid of it by following the mandatory guidelines," Imran Khan said.

Imran Khan, meanwhile, said Pakistan was in a better position than previously estimated Corona virus figures. The number of cases will continue to increase but fortunately our current number is less than the estimated number of cases which was 52,000. The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has risen to 38,292 while the death toll is 821.
