Unnecessary sectarian hatred is also on the rise in India amid the effects of the Koro epidemic. A similar incident has taken place in front of Jain Bakers and Confectioneries from T Nagar, Chennai. The owner of this bakery openly defamed Muslims in a WhatsApp poster. He wrote in his poster that the food in the bakery was 'made by Jains and there was no Muslim employee in making it.'

Jain Bakery & Confectioneries made such a publicity in a WhatsApp advertisement and after the post went viral, the police arrested the bakery owner Prashant. A case has been registered against Prashant under various sections of the IPC.

Outraged people called for a boycott of the bakery on social media. One user wrote, "We should all unite and socially boycott Jain Bakery and Confectioneries over the issue of public sectarian prejudice against Muslims."
