India does not need strong mechanism, Trump mediation to resolve border dispute: Experts

New delhi date. May 28, 2020, Thursday

Experts have criticized US President Donald Trump's offer to mediate on the Indo-China border dispute in Ladakh. Experts say India and China have strong mechanisms for resolving border disputes and do not require any third party intervention.

Former Indian Ambassador to the US Mira Shankar said Trump's proposal was inappropriate. Maybe he wants to build his identity as a great speaker through proposal. They are mostly trying to get involved in such issues. Former Indian Ambassador to Russia PS Raghav also emphasized on Mira Shankar's statement that third party mediation could not in fact resolve complex bilateral issues.

We have not asked a third party to intervene to resolve any of our bilateral issues. We have firmly resolved issues with both our neighbors (Pakistan and China). We have both machinery and communication. We are resolving bilateral issues under this mechanism.
