Gas leak at Raigad paper mill after Visakhapatnam, 7 injured

Within hours of the gas leak at Visakhapatnam, a gas leak from Chhattisgarh also came to light. It is learned that seven workers were affected by a gas leak at a paper mill at Raigad and the condition of three of them is critical. The incident took place while cleaning a chlorine tank in a paper mill.

The Shakti Paper Mill at Tetla village in Raigad district had been closed for several months and some laborers were sent for cleaning before reopening it. The accident was caused by a toxic gas leak from the pipeline during the cleanup and the three workers, who were in critical condition, were rushed to a hospital in Raipur.

As soon as the whole incident was reported, the Raipur District Collector and the Raigad Superintendent of Police rushed to the hospital to meet the victims and inquire about their whereabouts. At the same time, the families of the workers were assured that the government would not neglect their treatment. Ten workers were present at the mill at the time of the gas leak and seven of them fell unconscious.

A recent gas leak at LR Polymer Industry in RR Venkatapuram, Visakhapatnam also killed 11 people and affected more than 5,000.
