Amidst the lockdown in India, there have been eye-popping incidents of millions of laborers on foot to return home.

Alumni, including Priyanka Raman, a member of Bangalore University's Alumni Association, along with several NGOs, today airlifted some laborers from Mumbai to Ranchi.

As many as 177 of these lucky workers lined up at the Mumbai airport today. Probably most of them saw the airport for the first time. Arrangements have been made to take them to Ranchi on an Air Asia flight.

The alumni campaigned to raise funds for their tickets. The organization says, "We decided to help the people in the areas where transportation is a major problem. We knew that some workers from Jharkhand were trapped here." We decided to send them. This way they are ready to send more laborers if the state governments help.
