Corona vaccine hopes rise, Oxford University test at next level

London, Ta. Saturday 23 May 2020

Work is in full swing on the search for a vaccine around the world to control the spread of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, researchers at the University of Oxford on Friday confirmed the initial success of the vaccine against the coronavirus, saying they were moving to another level of testing at the human level. Researchers at the University of Oxford are going to the next level, admitting more than 10,000 people for the second phase of testing.

10,200 people in the second phase

The first phase of testing on the vaccine began last month. The trial was conducted on 1,000 healthy adults and volunteers under the age of 55. Now more than 10,200 people, including children over 70 and children aged 5 to 12, will be nominated for the study in view of their impact on the immune system. A small study with ports of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine found some promising results, one study said.

A look at the effectiveness of vaccines

The Covid-19 vaccine trial team is working hard to assess the safety, immunogenicity and vaccine efficacy of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, said Sara Gilbert, a professor of vaccine at the university's Jenner Institute.
