Brazil's health minister resigns after failing to contain Corona virus epidemic

Brasilia, Ta. Saturday 16 May 2020

Cases of the corona virus are on the rise worldwide. Brazil is also now struggling to curb the growing case in the country. As a result, Brazil has the sixth highest number of coronavirus cases in the world.

Now Brazil's health minister, Nelson Teixeira, has resigned. Brazil is currently facing a two-pronged crisis. More than 200,000 corona cases have been reported in Brazil, killing more than 14,000 people. The country has shown inability to get out of this crisis.

Brazilian President Zaire Bolsonaro at first denied the Corona crisis and went against the advice of scientists when the epidemic broke out. At first he normalized the risk of the virus and later he focused on the country's economy despite increasing cases.
