About 45 lakh people traveled by Shramik Special Trains, 80 per cent trains to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

The railways have repatriated more than 45 lakh laborers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, out of which 36 lakh laborers were brought from one state to another.

While 10 lakh workers were relocated by the railways within the state, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of trains for laborers, so far 80 per cent of the total trains have gone to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and passenger trains will be run as required.

According to the railway chairman, 36 lakh passengers were delivered home by 2600 trains in the next 10 days, which is also ready to run trains within the state as per the demands of the state governments.

So far, 48.5 per cent (1246) trains have been run for Uttar Pradesh, 31.3 per cent (804) for Bihar, 112 for Madhya Pradesh and 124 for Jharkhand, the railway chairman said. More than 200 trains have been running since May 19, with a maximum of 279 trains running since May 20.
