91 lakh laborers delivered home by 3700 trains, government responds in Supreme Court

The Koro crisis has taken a heavy toll on millions of migrant workers. The matter was heard in the Supreme Court today.

In which the government informed about the current condition of the workers. According to the information given by the government, so far 3700 trains have been run for the workers. Through which 91 lakh workers have been delivered home. 84 lakh workers have been given free meals in the railways.

About 80 per cent of the workers returning from the trains are residents of UP and Bihar. 350 trains have run between UP and Bihar alone. The government will continue to run trains till all the workers reach home.

In response to a question from the Supreme Court, the government had said that the cost of tickets was being borne by the states in some places and by the railways in others.

The solicitor general, on behalf of the government, asked for time to respond when the apex court asked how it could ensure that money was not taken from the workers.
