New delhi date. 31 May 2020, Sunday

According to the analysis of laboratory monitoring data by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the corona virus attack rate in India is 0.00332 per cent. This means that 33.2 people per million (1 million) in India are infected. This figure is much lower than the rate of attacks in other countries.

According to the US National Library of Medicine, the rate is 0.2523 per cent in the US, 0.3364 per cent in France, 0.1962 per cent in Britain and 0.0899 per cent in Canada. "The analysis is based on the data of various ICMR laboratories and is comprehensive," said Tarun Bhatnagar, a scientific doctor at the ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology.

According to Dr Tarun, he divided the number of positive cases by dividing the number of cases in which each person was considered at risk. He used more than one lakh samples as data which were tested in various ICMR laboratories during a special period. Because of this it has become the most comprehensive monitoring data ever.

According to Bhatnagar, lead author of the study, which will be published in the second edition of the Indian Journal of Medical Research's Special Covid issue, the actual numbers may vary but are the most comprehensive data ever given the shape of the sample.

The pre-print study states that India tested more than 1.02 million people between January 22 and April 30. According to the study, corona seizure rates are highest at 63.3 (per 10 lakh) among people aged 50 to 69 years and lowest at 6.1 (per 10 lakh) among those under 10 years of age.

Males (41.6 per 10 lakh) have a higher rate of seizures than women (24.3 per 10 lakh). As per the report of the Union Ministry of Health, 10.7 cases per one lakh people were reported in India till May 26, while 486 cases were reported in US, 504 in UK, 499 in Belgium and 52.2 in Mexico.

ICMRA developed and installed the Laboratory Monitoring Protocol for Covid-19 in January. The first sample was tested on January 22 and the first case of corona was reported in India on January 30. Corona cases have been reported in 523 out of 736 districts in India.
