The Corona virus has thus damaged the global economy, but if a lockdown is imposed to prevent infection, it could pose a problem for both humans and animals. The loss to the tourism business due to the lockdown is being paid by some animals who have lost their lives.

Tourists are not coming because of the lockdown

In fact, due to the lockdown, the government declared a state of emergency in Thailand last month, after which tourist destinations have collapsed. Its biggest impact has been on the elephants here. There are about 4000 elephants in Thailand that are mostly used as safari animals for tourists.

Elephants have difficulty getting food due to lockdown

Due to the lockdown, tourists have stopped coming there. It has also become difficult for the owners of these animals to manage their food. For these elephants it is necessary to arrange 200-300 kilograms of food per day which costs more. Which is difficult for their owners to do in the current situation.

The elephants have become very weak due to not getting the food they need and some of the elephants are also in danger of dying.

According to World Animal Protection, more than 2,000 domesticated elephants in Thailand are in urgent need of help. "If there is no help to keep them safe, this elephant could die of starvation," said Lake Charlotte, founder of the service The Elephant Foundation.
