Six doctors from across the country, including more than 3 Gujaratis, are willing to voluntarily stand up for the government to fight the corona virus. The group consists of retired government and armed forces medical personnel as well as private physicians.

The government on March 3 urged retired government, armed forces medical services, public sector enterprises or privately functioning doctors to come together to support the deadly epidemic spreading worldwide with the new coronary virus.

Retired government, armed forces, medical services, public sector enterprises or private-sector doctors have volunteered to come forward and work with the government to tackle the global coronary outbreak.

Maharashtra has the highest number of voluntary medical surgeries for treating patients with corona virus. Uttar Pradesh has two, Karnataka's 2, Delhi's, Telangana's, Gujarat's, Rajasthan's, Andhra Pradesh's, Bihar's, Kerala's. Three doctors from abroad are also eager to join the ministry.

In a statement posted on the website of the Policy Commission on March 7, the government said that those seeking to contribute to the fight against Covid-1 and to be part of the noble cause of service to the country can enroll in the link service available on the official website of the Policy Commission.

The statement added, "The Government of India requests voluntary doctors who are physically healthy and in the near future want to provide their services in public health centers and training hospitals." We urge such doctors to come forward in these times of need. You can join this work even if you are a retired government, Armed Forces medical services, public sector enterprises or a private doctor, the statement said.

If many people are infected with the epidemic, then the public health facilities in the country will be under heavy burden for the treatment of the large number of patients, the statement said.

Countries including the United States, Italy, England and Vietnam have urged retired doctors and other staff to return to work to treat patients against a worldwide pandemic.
