Government to implement "One Country-One Ration Card" scheme in lockdown: Supreme Court

A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court to ensure that foreign workers and economically weaker people trapped in various states due to lockdowns in the country can get food at reasonable prices.

A bench of Justice NV Raman, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice BR Gavai said in an order passed on Monday that we have directed the Central Government to consider the feasibility of implementing the "One Country-One Ration Card" scheme at this time and take appropriate decision keeping in view the circumstances. Let's do it.

A man by the name of Ripple Kansal had filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court to request the central government to start the scheme for workers and the poor trapped in different parts of the country. In which he requested the Supreme Court to intervene to adopt a one nation one ration card scheme.
