Government of these two states risked too much against liquor, sale of liquor from tomorrow

New Delhi, Apr 13, 2020, Monday

There has been debate over whether liquor sales should be allowed between lockdowns in different states of the country.

The governments of the two states have leaned against the demands of liquor restrictions. Liquor sales will resume from doorsteps in Assam and Meghalaya, two states in the east, unless the bar is opened.

As per the order issued today, liquor shops, wholesale warehouses and bottling plants will be opened in Assam.

It is worth mentioning that, in Kerala, there have been incidents of drunkards having committed suicide due to lack of alcohol. Haryana government has announced that liquor shops will be opened after lockdown.

Governments in both states are arguing that if liquor shops are not allowed to open, people are likely to lose their lives by drinking illicit merchandise.
