Seven convicted, including Yasin Malik, for killing four Air Force officers

The TADA court in Jammu has fixed charges against Yasin Malik and six others for the murder of a Air Force officer and three others in 1990.

During the hearing of the case, which was almost 30 years old, the court admitted sufficient evidence that Yasin Malik and all the other accused were involved in the murder of Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna and his three accomplices.

In this case, the court ordered the various accused to be charged under various sections including sections 302, 307, TADA Act 1987 and Arms Act 1959 of IPC. Yasin Malik and another accused in the case, Shaukat Bakshi, watched the court proceedings through video conferencing and were not personally present in the court for security reasons.

Ravi Khanna and his associates were on their way to Srinagar's Air Force Base on January 25, 1990 when they were attacked by terrorists. Two Air Force officers died on the spot while two other officers died during hospital treatment. About 40 other Air Force officers were also injured in the attack.

Yasin, who has been out on bail for 19 years in the case, and has been in jail since he was arrested last year. There is also a case registered against Yassin against terror funding and the kidnapping of Mufti Mohammad Saeed's daughter.
