Bhopal, Mar 13, 2020, Friday

Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has joined the BJP and Congress's Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh has been in trouble after 22 of its supporters resigned from the assembly.

However, Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Friday accused the BJP of holding 22 legislators hostage while preparing for a floor test in the assembly. The rebel MLAs of the Congress also include six ministers of the Madhya Pradesh government. Governor Lalji Tandon removed these ministers from his post.

Of the 22 MLAs who resigned from the Madhya Pradesh assembly, 19 were to return from Bengaluru to Bhopal. Prior to his arrival, Chief Minister Kalmanath met Governor Lalji Tandon. With Kamal's recommendation, Governor Tandon removed six ministers from the rebel legislators.

Kamal Nath, along with the Governor, demanded that the rebel MLAs be called back from Bengaluru before the floor test. "We are fully prepared for the floor test scheduled by the speaker on March 16," he said after an interview with the governor on Friday evening.

He accused the BJP of holding 22 MLAs of Congress hostage. He appealed to the governor to release his hostage-made legislators with the help of the Home Ministry as he was the constitutional head of the state. This was Kamal Nath's first meeting with Governor Lalji Tandon after a group of Congress MLAs revolted three days ago.

In an interview with Governor Lalji Tandon, Kamal Nath handed over a three-page letter to the Governor accusing the BJP of horse trading. The Speaker has fixed March 16 to prove Chief Minister Kamal Nath as the majority in the Legislative Assembly. Kamal Nath also sought to probe the resignation of the Congress MLAs by the BJP.
