New Delhi, Mar 19, 2020 Thursday

Former chief justice of the country, Ranjan Gogoi, was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member amid slogans of Sham-Shem of various opposition members, including Congress. Members of Congress, including the Left, walked out of the House opposing Gogoi's oath. Ranjan Gogoi was sworn in in English amid opposition. After taking the oath, he thanked the Speaker of the House and other members.

As soon as the Rajya Sabha proceedings began, Gogoi had reached a certain place to take oath as MP. Opposition members started chanting the sham-sham.

Regarding the opposition's post, House Speaker Venkaiah Naidu said such behavior was not in line with the members' limits. You know the constitutional provisions. You know the examples. You know the President's rights. Naidu said that you should not do anything in the house. At some point you are free to express your opinion outside the home.

Referring to slogans against him by opposition members in the House, Ranjan Gogoi said he would welcome me shortly. I have no commentator. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the conduct of the opposition members was completely inappropriate. Many dignitaries from various fields have been members of this house. Those people also include a former judge who was nominated. Naidu said that we should honor the member. Gogo was greeted by several members before the House proceedings began. He was sitting in the house next to a nominee member, Sonal Mann Singh.

The Rajya Sabha can nominate 5 members

In India, the maximum number of members has been fixed in Rajya Sabha according to Article 5 of the Constitution The President himself appoints six members. The President has the right to nominate six dignitaries from various fields in the Rajya Sabha. These people do not have to contest. Ranjan Gogoi has been appointed in this category. The remaining six members are elected by representatives of states and union territories.
