With crude oil prices falling to around $ 30, the government has demanded that the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG should be reduced drastically and all three should be raised to the level of 2004.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded that petrol prices go down by Rs 60. Congress has sought to bring petrol and diesel under the GST.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed Prime Minister Modi on Twitter, saying that you were so busy delivering to the Congress-elected government that you forgot to see that global oil prices had fallen by 35 percent.

Congress chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said that Modi-Shah should immediately reduce the price of petrol and diesel and give the people the benefit of falling crude prices.

Surajewala said crude oil prices have fallen below the last 15 years. At present, crude oil prices have gone up from $ 35 to $ 38. The crude price was in 2004.

He said that in 2004, when crude prices were $ 35 to $ 38, petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders were priced at Rs 37.84, Rs 26.28 and Rs 281.60 respectively. Today, when crude has rebounded to 2004, prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders should go up as much as they were in 2004.
