Corona breaks Olympic break, Tokyo Olympics postponed

New delhi date. 24 March 2020, Tuesday

The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed until next year, starting July 24 this year due to the Corona virus. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and International Olympic Committee (IOC) chairman Thomas Baek have agreed to postpone the Games on Tuesday.

The IOC was under constant pressure to suspend the Tokyo Olympics as the Corona virus closed one billion people in homes around the world. The decision is a major blow to the city of Tokyo, which has been praised for its preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. The stadium was also ready for this a long time ago and tickets were also distributed.

The IOC on Sunday set itself a four-week deadline to decide on the future of sports. But Canada and Australia refused to send their team, and then the influential Olympic Committee and the World Athletics became involved in the demand to suspend the Games.
