New delhi date. January 31, 2020, Friday

BSNL's 78,559 employees were voluntarily retired. For the first time in the country, such a large number of government company employees were collectively retired. Now the number of employees of the government company has increased to 85 thousand. Previously, an estimated 1.63 lakh employees were employed.

The country's state-owned telecom company BSNL is in debt. A voluntary retirement was proposed for the employees to get out of it.

About 78,559 employees retired simultaneously as part of the Voluntary Retirement Scheme. The total number of BSNL employees so far was 1.63 lakh. With 78,559 officers-employees retiring, the number of employees will now be 85 thousand.

Voluntary retirement workers were paid one month advance salary. That means all employees will be paid the month of February. Half the allowance will be given to all employees by March 31 and the rest will be paid by June 30.

BSNL offers employees 50 years of age or older the option to retire. These employees will be compensated as per the norms. They will receive about 40 months' salary.

About Rs 70,000 crore will be paid to employees. In addition to voluntary retirement, about six thousand employees are retiring due to age limits. The company estimates that 82,000 employees will be retired.

After such a large number of employees will retire, the annual salary budget of the company will be greatly reduced. Currently, employees are paid Rs 2272 crore a year. It will fall to 500 million a year.

The central government said on BSNL's financial crisis that a significant number of employees were responsible for the financial crisis of the company. For the first time in such a large number of employees, government company employees are retiring.

According to the government, due to the retirement of such a large number of officers and employees, it will have an impact on the service of the company. The company made a lawsuit for customers that the impact of retiring a large number of employees would not be fully monitored.
