An official public statement said that Trump would stay in India for two days, February 24 and 25, during which he would visit Delhi besides Ahmedabad.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said there had been a phone conversation between Narendra Modi and US President Trump for some time, during which time Modi invited Trump to India, which has finally been accepted.

Trump is also coming to India for the purpose of strengthening India-US relations. Meanwhile, Trump and the First Lady will also visit Delhi and Ahmedabad, Gujarat is the home state of Narendra Modi and from there Mahatma Gandhi played an important role in the Indian independence movement.

As the White House mentions Gandhi, there is a possibility that Trump may visit the Gandhi Ashram when he comes to Ahmedabad. While Delhi may have discussions between the heads of the two countries to resolve business disputes.

Former US President Barack Obama has visited India twice in 2010 and 2015. This is his first visit to India since Trump became president. While this is their second foreign visit this year, they have already visited Switzerland.

Narendra Modi and Donald Trump have met several times, when Modi last met with US President Trump on September 24 when he went to attend the US Howdy Modi program. The president of the Association of Native Indians living in America estimates that Trump is visiting India at that time.
