The houses of Muslim families were burnt down, Hindu neighbors kept them in their homes

In the aftermath of the riots in North East Delhi, there is an atmosphere of hatred, violence and fear all around. In the midst of such an environment, there have been cases where the spirit of communal harmony and mutual trust has remained intact.

Speaking of the city of Ashok, Delhi, a mob of thousands attacked a mosque in the area and set fire to it. According to an English newspaper, the resident, Khurshid Alam, said that when the mob entered the mosque, 20 people were offering prayers. Those who fled to save their lives. As the mosque reached the mosque, rioters hoisted a tricolor and a saffron flag. However it was later taken down by the locals.

Locals were urging the rioters not to damage anyone's property but the crowd in the crowd had set ablaze the houses and shops of six Muslim families. Everything was robbed from the house.

"We were on the road, but Hindu friends living in the neighborhood helped us," said Rashid, a resident of this. They have always been with us. He has given us shelter. We have been here for 25 years but we have never had any quarrel with the Hindus.

Hindu neighbors say, "We never thought their property would be damaged." Their homes are on fire and we cannot leave them alone.
