New delhi date. 20 February 2020, Thursday

The country's 258 scientists have been obliged by the Science and Technology Ministry to call for a proposal for research on domestic cows. Scientists have filed an online petition demanding that the government withdraw the proposal. The Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology has sought the proposal to conduct research on cow dung, urine and milk for use in medicine, toothpaste and shampoo. Applications have been received from scientists and NGOs.

In an online petition on February 19, scientists have marched against it. According to media reports, 258 scientists had signed it by 11am on February 20. At the same time, scientists questioned whether the cows and their research on dung, urine and milk were trying to find something new or whether this was being done under an agenda.

These scientists have appealed that the government withdraw its decision because it has no scientific basis. Scientists say the government should not spend money on research that has no scientific basis.
