New Delhi, Feb 10, 2020 Monday
The Supreme Court has given big relief to the Central Government on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research Act 2018.
A bench of Justices Arun Mishra, Justice Vineet Sharan and Justice Ravindra Bhatt rejected the application challenging the SC-ST Amendment Act. Now according to SC-ST research law, an FIR will be lodged and arrested after receiving a complaint.
What is the case
On March 20, 2018, the court stopped the FIR and arrest rule over complaints received in connection with the abuse of SC-ST statute. The law was then revised to reverse the order of the court in Parliament. The validity of the amended statute was challenged in the Supreme Court.
