No one needs to teach us the lessons of secularism or democracy: Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, February 28, 2020, Friday

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that secularism, democracy and socialism are an integral part of Indian culture. No one needs to teach us that.

He said that Hindus are kind and tolerant people by nature. No one needs to teach us that. We believe in equality.

No religion is against any other religion. At the base of Hinduism there is talk of equality. None of us have to learn. Gadkari Savarkar was speaking at a literary convention. Gadkari, quoting a statement from Balasaheb Devaras, the former head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that secularism is adversely affected when a country has a majority of Muslims.

He also said that secularism is not a minority of the minority. He added that there are two types of people in the world. One type is that of fundamentalists and the other is those who believe in democracy. We are another kind of people.
