Neither God nor Allah, the oath of office taken in the name of the martyrs of freedom

New delhi date. 16 February 2020, Sunday

Arvind Kejriwal took oath with his entire cabinet for the third time at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. Along with Kejriwal, six ministers of the Delhi government took oath. Those included Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain, Rajendra Pal Gautam. All these ministers have also been ministers in the previous government.

Gopal Rai drew his attention to Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony. The oath is usually sworn in the name of God or Allah. But Gopal Rai swore in the name of martyrs. During his oath, suddenly people's attention turned to him. He swore in the name of the martyrs sacrificed for freedom by not taking an oath in the name of God.

Gopal Rai swore, "I swear to the martyrs of Gopal Rai Azadi that I will have true faith and devotion to the constitution established by the ritual." I will keep India's sovereignty and integrity intact. I will faithfully and reliably discharge my duties as a minister. I will do justice to all kinds of people according to the constitution and rituals, without any fear or partisanship, anguish or hatred.
