In the education sector, FDI: Rs. 99,300 crore allocated

Moving the country towards digital India, the central government has emphasized on online education in the budget. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Saturday that the top 100 educational institutions in the country will provide degree-level full-flag online education program for poor students and students who cannot reach the classroom.

The Finance Minister will also encourage FDI and external commercial borrows in the education sector to improve the quality of higher education. The district will connect medical colleges with public hospitals through public-private partnerships to meet the shortage of qualified doctors.

Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 in Parliament, Sitharaman said that a new education policy would be introduced shortly and the government would provide Rs. 99,300 crore and Rs. Will allocate Rs 3,000 crore.

The Finance Minister announced that a special bridge course will be prepared by the Health and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministries along with vocational institutes to improve the skills of teachers, nurses, paramedical staff and caregivers.

In addition, about 150 higher education institutions in the country will launch Apprenticeship, Degree Diploma Course by March 2021. The government has proposed to launch a program for urban engineers to provide fresh engineers with one-year internship opportunities. However, this online program can provide only the top 100 national educational institutions in the country.
