Election Commission officials visit Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi, Feb 6, 2020, Thursday

With 48 hours remaining before the Delhi assembly elections, Election Commission officials visited Shaheen Bagh in the presence of the police and persuaded the women who were dharna to vote there.

The Delhi Assembly polls are scheduled for Saturday, February 8th. For the last 54 days, Muslim women have been protesting in the Shaheen Bagh area to protest against the new citizenship law and the citizens register.

The Shaheen Bagh area falls under the Okhala seat of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Some time ago, election officials spoke to the people when they visited Okhala constituency. There were no problems or problems in the Okhla area at that time, people told the election officials.

Currently, hundreds of Muslim women are sitting in Shaheen Bagh. Election Commission officials felt that there would not be enough voting for the Okhla area seat if they did not vote.

There are five polling booths in the Shaheen Bagh area. The Election Commission declared the five polling booths sensitive. Adequate security arrangements will also be made here.

Joint Police Commissioner (South Range) Devesh Srivastava of the area said the protesters had prepared for the election.
