Colorado becomes the 22nd US state to abolish the death penalty

Colorado is set to become the 22nd US state to have a full stop on the death penalty. The lawmakers in the Democratic-majority House approved a bill seeking to repeal the death sentence and passed it to the governor.

In a Democratic-dominated House in the United States, MPs approved a bill demanding the repeal of the death sentence, and sent it to Democratic Governor Jared Polis.

It is worth mentioning that Jared has made a decision to repeal the death penalty and that Colorado will become the 22nd US state to abolish the death penalty. The state of Colorado has attempted to abolish the death penalty for the sixth time since 2009.

The Senate, which has a Democrat majority in January, passed the bill and will go into effect from July 1st. This will not affect the death sentence of three people in Colorado who have to be executed with lethal injection. However, Jared himself suggested he might consider an apology for him.

There are currently 29 death sentences in 29 US states, including Colorado. In addition, the death penalty is intact in the criminal code of the government and the military justice system.

If the death penalty is to be implemented in Colorado, it would be the 22nd US state after 2004 where the death sentence was abolished by law and court proceedings.
