BJP received 742 crore donations in a year, only one crore crore to Congress

During 2018-19, BJP received a donation of Rs 742 crore while Congress received Rs 148 crore in the same period. This information is based on information provided by these political parties to the Election Commission. Among the political parties that have received donations, the BJP is in the top ranks and this amount is increasing.

For instance, during 2017-18, BJP received a donation of Rs 437.04 crore which has now increased to Rs 742.15 crore during 2018-19, which is an increase of about 70%. Similarly, the donation of Rs 26 crore in 2017-18 to Congress has increased to Rs 148.58 crore in 2018-19. Congress has increased donations but BJP has received the highest number of donations.

According to a statement issued by ADR, BJP received a donation of Rs 698.092 crore from the corporate and business sector while 2741 people gave Rs 41.70 crore to BJP, which means that BJP got the highest donation from entrepreneurs. Similarly, Congress received Rs 122.5 crore from the corporate and business sectors and Rs. 25.39 crore from 482 people who donated individually. BSP said it did not receive more than 20,000 donations in this period.
