BJP lost Delhi with statements like 'Goli Maro': confession of Amit Shah

New delhi date. February 13, 2020, Thursday

Union Home Minister and former BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday admitted that controversial statements like 'Desh or Gaddar Ko Golimaro' and 'India-Pakistan Match' would have hurt the party in the Delhi elections.

He also admitted that the saffron party had lost before Delhi. He also said that the Delhi election results cannot be considered a mandate on the Citizenship Improvement Act (CAA) and the NRC.

Amit Shah said that BJP leaders did not want to make controversial statements like 'Desh or Gaddar Ko Goli Maro' and 'India-Pakistan Match'. During the election campaign, BJP leader and state finance minister Anurag Thakur created controversy by giving a 'Goli Maro' statement.

Shah said such statements probably hurt the party. However, he also referred to Rahul Gandhi's 'Danda' statement on Prime Minister Modi and said that the statements of the BJP leaders were not shown in the same way as they were loudly displayed.

He added that Modi had won by a large majority only a short time ago. While some states have not had success recently, it is true, but it does not mean that people's faith has gone out of BJP.

We have won elections in Maharashtra. Haryana had only 6 seats less. In Jharkhand, we lost the elections and won more seats than ever before in Delhi and the vote percentage has increased.

He accepted the defeat of the party and said that the BJP had lost even before the Delhi elections. They were trying to win more seats and increase vote share. Whoever wants to discuss CAA and NRC wants time in my office, I will discuss it within three days.
