1.62 crores a day to spend on PM Modi's security: Home Ministry

The Home Ministry has revealed that Rs 1.62 crore is being spent daily on security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home G G Kishan Reddy said that only PM has been provided security by SPG. In addition, CISF is responsible for the security of the other 56 VIPs in the country. Reddy said that under the new law, the security system of SPG will now be available only to PMs and their families.

Although the Home Ministry has provided VIP protection to anyone, their names have not been disclosed. G Kishan Reddy had said that recently SPG protection of former PM Manmohan Singh, his wife Gurusharan Kaur, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and his children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have been withdrawn.
