The rioters attempted to burn the police alive

Uttar Pradesh police have claimed that the rioters tried to burn down the policemen in a building and burned them alive during violent protests in Uttar Pradesh on December 20 against the Citizenship Improvement Act.

Police also released a video clip of such an attempt in Meerut.

The violent clashes in the western division of Uttar Pradesh led to the names of organizations like PIF and SDPI, and Uttar Pradesh had recommended the central government to ban such institutions. Police arrested four persons, including the SDPI chief, and put them in jail.

Police have formed a Special Investigative Team, led by the SP of the Crime Branch of Uttar Pradesh Police, and with the help of CCTV, they have arrested and tortured the perpetrators of these two organizations. The possibility of further arrests is not ruled out soon.

Police claimed that people from the People's Front of India (PIF) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SPDI) had provoked riots. Now the police had to find such people and teach them lessons.
