Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that although the GDP has fallen to an 11-year low in the current financial year, the foundation of the Indian economy is strong and has the potential to bounce back.

It is worth mentioning that for the past few days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been personally monitoring efforts to boost economic growth. For this, he has held meetings with 12 concerned parties in the last 12 days.

In this context, Prime Minister Modi today met with economists, private equity and venture capitalist agricultural experts and industrialists in the Policy Commission. The meeting also discussed the target of making a trillion dollar economy by 2024.

Prime Minister Modi said that we must all work together and start thinking as a nation. It is worth mentioning that the GDP is projected to be 5% in the current financial year. It was 6.8% in the last financial year.

40 experts and economists were present at the meeting. Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Niti Aayog Rajiv Kumar, CEO Amitabh Kant and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Committee Chairman, Bibek Debroy. Nirmala Sitharaman was not present at the BJP headquarters as she was pre-budget meeting with party workers. The meeting was attended by NIPFP economist Ila Patnaik, former chief economic adviser Shankar Acharya, IGIDR professor R Nagaraj and Tarun Mehta.

The next general budget will be pro-people: BJP

Top BJP leaders today said that the central general budget, which will be held on February 1, will be pro-people. He said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman could not attend today's Prime Minister's meeting as he was busy in the budget meeting with party workers. The meeting, chaired by Nirmala Sitharaman, was attended by BJP acting president JP Nadda, general secretary BL Santosh, Bhupendra Yadav and Arun Singh. Arun Singh further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running the government with utmost diligence for the welfare of the people.

The Congress has criticized the BJP government for the absence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a previous budget meeting with economists and experts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Policy Commission. Congress has said on Twitter that we have a suggestion, consider calling the finance minister at the next budget meeting.

In another tweet, Congress has questioned how many men worked for one woman. Interestingly, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was absent at a meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar were present on the other side. According to sources, when the meeting was going on, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was addressing a previous budget meeting with party workers at BJP headquarters.
