In the crisis of billions of lives, water will be more expensive than oil in the future

The glaciers of the Hindu Kush mountain range will melt by the end of this century and remain one-third. Due to this, the countries associated with the 800 km long Hindukush Himalayan region extending from Afghanistan to Myanmar will be most affected. In view of the effects of global warming and climate change, scientists have warned billions of people will suffer from the water crisis in the future.

According to David Molden, DG of the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), if the current steps are not taken to prevent climate change, then there will be a huge crisis facing humanity in the future and people will pay more than oil for drinking water. The lives of billions of people in South and Southeast Asia depend on the rivers flowing from glaciers in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region, the world's third pole.

Several major rivers, including Brahmaputra, Indus, Yangtze and Mekong originate from this region. If there is no water in these rivers in the future, people from many countries including India, China and Pakistan will be in trouble. Extreme hot air, erratic monsoons and pollution are affecting most of the water sources. The Paris Agreement, signed in 2015, may be an effective means of preventing the most dangerous effects of global warming, but it is essential that all countries work together in that direction.

Drinking water problems are increasing every year due to climate change. More than half of the world's population lives in Asia, including India, and the drinking water problem is increasing here, so the poorer people will be the most affected. Melting glaciers increase the risk of problems, including floods, droughts, landslides, and avalanches. Over the past few years, natural disasters have risen sharply. Last year, Chennai city of South India suffered severe drought when many areas of north India were flooded.
