Why is there such a violent protest in Assam alone?

Guwahati Date: 12th December 2019, Thursday

Why is there so much outrage and violence spread in the backward state of Assam in India, against the Citizenship Reform Bill?

This is like understanding the mystery behind violence and outrage. When the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was implemented in Assam some time ago, at least 1 million people came out who did not have any documents to prove themselves an Indian citizen, such as Aadhar card, voter card, rationing card or passport.

At least 19 million people were detained. The complaint was filed against the NRC in the Supreme Court for not allowing the people to stay overnight.

In fact, for decades, the Congress has provided refuge to Bangladeshis who have entered Assam. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who was once the president of the country and signed on without reading the emergency order, had infiltrated the Bangladeshis in Assam, which later became the vote bank of one or the other political party.

Now the Modi government has made a provision in the Citizenship Reform Bill that Hindu refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be given citizenship, not Muslims.

Out of the 19 lakh people who were detained in the NRC, 11 lakh are Hindus. If all of them get citizenship, the fear that our livelihoods and other rights will fall into disrepute is rooted in the native people of Assam, so most violence is happening in Assam.

If the Muslim League is to attend the Supreme Court on this matter this Thursday morning or give citizenship to everyone except us, then what crime have we committed? Why don't we get Indian citizenship?

Assam is currently burning due to this imaginary insecurity that has entered people's minds.
