Unique love story: Friendship in youth results in marriage in old age

Kochnian Menon, 67, and Laxmi Ammal, 65, who were staying at the Government Old Age Home in Ramvarampuram in Thrissur district in Kerala, were married on Saturday.

It is said that, when love is free from the restrictions of age, caste, religion, etc., a similar incident has been reported in Thrissur district of Kerala where two elderly marriages have recently been completed. Lakshmi Ammal and Kochanian Menon have known each other for the past 30 years and luckily they decided to get married after their friendship fell in love.

At the wedding, Lakshmi Ammal was seen dressed in red silk saree and jewelry and she also added jasmine flowers to enhance her hair. Menon was seen in a traditional white dhoti dress and shirt at the wedding ceremony. VS Sunil Kumar, Minister of State for Kerala, was also present at the wedding.

Sunil Kumar described marriage as one of the most beautiful and memorable moments of his life. At the same time, he said that they were married for the first time in a government-run Old Age home.

Lakshmi Ammal and Menon were very happy to be seen in the porch at the wedding and guests were also served a meal after the wedding. They have known each other for the past 30 years but have been disconnected for the past few years.

Ammal's husband passed away 21 years ago and Menon serves as their assistant. After her husband's death, Ammal lived with her relatives and moved to the Old Age home two years ago. Then, two months ago, Menon also moved in, and after a 30-year friendship, they both decided to get married.
